Meet The Team

Jim Overman

Founder and President

Jim Overman is the Founder & President of J&P Asset Management which he founded in 2017.  As a business and hospitality veteran, Jim has over 30 years’ experience, including eight years at ValuePlace and WoodSpring Hotels where he was the Senior Vice President of Operations.  Jim is a creative, dedicated and innovative hospitality leader, who’s approach to achieving outstanding sales growth, combined with his operational efficiency techniques to reduce expenses and maximizing profits has improved business valuations for supported hotel franchisees/owners.

Steve Folden

Human Resources Business Partner

Steve is the Human Resources Business Partner at J & P Asset Management. He is responsible for all people programs; including but not limited to, hiring, onboarding, benefits, payroll, training, HR metrics, and more. Steve’s role supports the overall business plan and strategic direction of the company. Steve joined the company in 2020.

Before J & P Asset Management, Steve was the principal at The Folden Group, offering talent and organizational consulting services that aligned people and strategies for corporate clients. Steve has led HR operations at WoodSpring Hotels, Nationwide Hotel Management Company, Tosoh America, and he has worked with several other companies in various HR leadership roles.

Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. He is also a US Army veteran and a graduate of the US Army’s Sergeant Major Academy.

James Duggar

Director, Operations & Revenue Management

James is the Director of Operations & Revenue Management at J&P Asset Management. He is responsible for the overall direction of our Revenue Management Strategies & Programs. This includes the development and implementation of all rates, promotions, pricing, market research, and strategic portfolio projects. He directly oversees the production of all distribution channels: Direct, Web, OTA & GDS. While also providing ongoing training and support to new Revenue, Area & General Managers. James joined the company in 2018.

James holds one of the highest POR scores for the WoodSpring Brand and is instrumental in our Industry leading new hotel ramp-ups to stabilized occupancy.

Prior to joining J&P, James worked for WoodSpring Suites as a Special Operations Manager since 2014. During his time on the Special Ops team, he traveled extensively restoring financial profitability to underperforming properties, training new General Managers, and opening numerous properties across the country.

Jake Agregado

Director, Operations and Revenue Management

Jake is a Director, Operations and Revenue Management at J & P Asset Management. He is responsible for revenue management programs and strategies across different brands. He also provides support to operational platforms among properties. Jake joined J & P in 2020.

Before J & P Asset Management, Jake was the general manager of the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Cleveland with approximate annual revenue in excess of $ 4.5M. He was a special operations manager at Woodspring Suites where he opened and transitioned properties across the country and was awarded President’s Circle and Brand Champion in the same year; running 100% occupancy at a property for 32 consecutive days. He also served as Sr. VP of Operations for Nakota Development. Prior to working in the hotel industry, Jake was a specialist in the public affairs office of the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines. He produced information programs in support of the country plan and was part of the team that managed US congressional and state department visits as well as grants from the International Visitor Exchange and Fulbright programs.

Jake holds a bachelor’s degree from the Far Eastern University and completed the foreign national exchange program at the United States Information Agency (USIA) in Washington, D.C.

Steve McFarlane

Senior Director of Facilities and Operations

With over 14 years of hospitality experience, Steve has managed full-service as well as select-service properties in almost every sector of the hospitality business. He has extensive experience with new openings, renovation planning, new construction, multi-unit management, and asset management. Past experience includes Director of Corporate Engineering, Regional Operations Manager, and Asset Manager for brands such as WoodSpring Suites, Marriott Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn, and Choice Hotels.

Before joining J&P Asset Management Corp. Mr. McFarlane has owned a successful real estate investment company while consulting with owners and management companies of extended stay hotels along with multi-family units, specializing in hotel opening, training, and how to maximize profits.

Lisa Nicholson

Senior Director of Training and Operations

As a visionary and servant leader with excellent management skills along with a talent for directing company operations in a growth-minded direction, Lisa Nicholson has served in the hospitality industry for over a decade. She is currently the Director of Operations for J&P Asset Management, Inc. where she is responsible for the growth and profitability of the organization in the Chicago area. Mrs. Nicholson leverages her excellent leadership and teamwork skills to ensure that the organization's mission, goals, and objectives are fulfilled on a day to day basis. She ensures the smooth operation and profitability of over ten properties throughout its every function, from human resources to production.

Mrs. Nicholson joined J&P Asset Management in November of 2018 as Director of Operations. With her exceptional knowledge of the business and extraordinary organization skills, facilitated a new group of management teams and inspired them to lead their respective companies to growth and profitability. Prior to her current position with J&P, Mrs. Nicholson worked for WoodSpring Suites Hotel Management for almost a decade as an Area Manager under the great teachings and leadership of the President of J&P Asset Management, Mr. Jim Overman. Lisa Nicholson's leadership experience spans over 30 years with her humble beginnings starting in the United States Navy where she served for 22 years in Naval Intelligence and Naval Counseling/Recruiting and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 2007. 

With a degree in Business Administration from Campbell University's Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, Mrs. Nicholson embraces the interdisciplinary approach to management and leadership while implementing new directives for personnel and business growth and success. Lisa Nicholson is hands-on in her role as Director of Operations in a multidisciplinary team culture and environment. When Lisa Nicholson is not collaborating with colleagues and ensuring business growth along with guests and employee satisfaction, she can be seen enjoying family time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and church family. She believes in a healthy work and life balance. Also, to focus on what's important, practice the "golden rule", "law of reciprocity", and success will come. 

Michael Jakes

Director of Regional Operations

Michael Jakes, a 10-year-plus veteran of the hospitality industry, is Director of Regional operations for J&P Asset Management, where he continues to elevate the vision of J&P while ensuring all operational areas within the company align with the long-term goals and objectives. Mr. Jakes works with teams to continue to enhance the existing high level of guest service as well as oversee the growth and expansion plans the company has in the pipeline.

Mr. Jakes joined J&P Asset Management in March of 2018 as Director of Operations, where he ran properties in multiple regions, developed a new group of management teams and inspired company growth. With more than 10 years of experience in the industry and 20 years of leadership experience. Mr. Jakes worked at Woodspring Suites for more than 6 years, most recently as Regional Director of Operations. Mr. Jakes previously worked with Nexus Property Management for more than a decade, serving in various operational development, maintenance, and Human Resource roles of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Jakes spearheaded the organization of J&P’s early-stage development and operational vision. He continues to support the company through facilitating relationships with investors and development groups. Mr. Jakes is a graduate of Southern Ohio College concentrated on Business Management and is also a United States Air Force veteran with 10 years of service.

Troy Dickinson

Director, Area Operations

Troy is a Director of Area Operations. His role for the company is maintaining excellent, clean, well maintained, and profitable hotels for ownership groups represented by J&P Asset Management, Inc. Troy joined the company in June, of 2018, and is responsible for (but is not limited to) 15 locations currently in Texas, and New Mexico.

Prior to working with J&P Asset Management, Troy was a General Manager for Woodspring Suites, and Nationwide Hotel Management. Troy has also worked in the restaurant industry, from QSR to full-service, holding positions from General Manager, to Regional Training Manager responsible for the certification of all incoming General Managers into position.

Troy is a 1991 graduate of DeSoto High School in DeSoto, MO

Tony Kressy

Director of Operations

Tony is a Senior Operations Manager at J & P Asset Management and is responsible for operational oversight of multiple-property units to ensure the business is achieving profit and revenue objectives. In his role he monitors employee productivity, service provided to guests, and markets properties to increase revenue. He also inspects buildings to ensure properties are providing a clean and safe environment.

Before J & P Asset Management, Tony held operational roles from GM to Regional Operations Manager with Schulte Hospitality Group, First Hospitality Group, and Extended Stay America. He has managed both extended-stay and transient properties (i.e. ESA, Marriot Springhill Suites, and Courtyard by Marriott). While at Extended Stay America (10 years) he served in GM and District Manager roles where he was directly responsible for thirty-six (36) new property openings and their successful operational start-up.

Tony is a Certified Hotel Administrator (American Hotel & Lodging Association) and holds a certificate of hotel management from Southeastern Academy. He also attended Triton College majoring in business and hospitality administration.

Ryan Reed

Director of Operations

Ryan Reed is a Director of Operations at J&P Asset Management. He is responsible for consistent delivery and implementation of the J&P programs and practices to a portfolio of hotels in the Southwest.

Ryan is an operation specialist with more than 20 years of diverse experience in hospitality and multi-family industries. He began his career in full-service hotels wearing many hats from Bellman to General Manager. In 2001 he transitioned into the extended-stay segment as a Regional Director, Field Operations with hawthorn Suites. He then spent 7 years with G6 Hospitality, LLC as a Regional Director, Operations. Just before joining J&P in 2020, he was an operations leader in the multi-family industry with Mid-America Apartment Communities.

Developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything he strives for, both professionally and personally.

Ryan resides in McKinney, TX with his wife and 2 daughters enjoying outdoor sports activities and summer vacations to the beach.
